Right Now On The Farm
We've got a batch of four-week-old chicks in the shed, and they're just about ready for their first day outside.
They arrived as day-olds and have been in the brooder box since then — warm, dry, and doing the quiet work of growing feathers. It happens fast. One week they're all down and peeping, the next they've got real plumage coming through, and they're starting to find their feet. These have feathered up enough to handle the August weather, and they'll be heading out to the paddock in the next week or so. That's when this batch becomes part of the rotation — out on pasture, doing what chickens are built to do.
Egg production is picking up too. The days are getting longer, the flock is responding to it, and after the quieter months of winter, the cartons are filling again. Spring's not quite here yet, but you can feel it coming.

As the weather warms, the farm comes alive. Longer evenings, clear skies, the kind of quiet that's hard to find closer to the city. This is off-grid camping in the proper sense — no crowds, no noise, just open land and the sounds of a working farm around you. There's something about waking up here in spring with the paddocks green and the birds moving through that makes it hard to leave.
Bookings fill up as the season picks up. If a particular weekend matters to you, it's worth checking sooner rather than later.
