Deep Roots and Clear Waters: Celebrating Blue Tree Day and Sustainable Innovation on the Farm
On September 13, 2026, our farm became a hub of action, connection, and renewal as we welcomed the team from OneStep Group for Blue Tree Day. It was a day dedicated to two pillars vital to rural life: mental health awareness and hands-on environmental stewardship.
Farming is deeply rewarding, but it can also be isolating. The Blue Tree Project serves as a powerful visual reminder across regional Australia to break the silence around mental health and encourage open conversations. Gathering our community to give our farm’s blue tree a fresh, vibrant coat of paint gave everyone a moment to reflect, connect, and reinforce the support networks that keep our rural communities strong.
Alongside painting, our volunteers took on an ambitious ecological project: designing, building, and deploying three floating planting islands into our main dam. Constructed using light PVC framing, geotextile matting, and native wetland vegetation, these floating rafts act as natural water filtration systems. As the plants grow, their underwater root systems absorb excess nutrients, reduce algae growth, and create crucial habitats for local wildlife and beneficial insects.
Improving water quality in our main dam directly enhances our farm's overall resilience. Clean water feeds healthier pastures and crops, reduces reliance on chemical treatments, and ensures our land remains vibrant for generations to come.
