From the Brooder Box to the Paddock

It's been four weeks since our latest batch of chicks arrived, and what a four weeks it's been. They came in small, fluffy, and a little uncertain — and they've spent every day since getting stronger, growing feathers, and filling the shed with more noise than you'd expect from something so small.

Right now they're living in the brooder box in our main shed, kept warm and dry while their feathers fill in properly. It's one of those quiet, satisfying parts of farm life — checking in each day, watching the progress, knowing what's coming next.

In about a week, they'll be ready to head outside for the first time. Feathered up enough to handle the elements, strong enough to start doing what they were born to do — scratch around in the pasture, find bugs, live the way a chicken should.
That's the heart of what we do here at Jacaranda Hill. Every egg starts with a chick raised well, given time, given space, and given the chance to grow properly before anything is asked of it. We think you can taste the difference.
Stay tuned — we'll share the moment they step outside for the first time. 🐔
